Makabor Studio is an independent production company, established by Kata Oláh director- producer and Sándor Csukás, cinematographer-director in 2004, based in Budapest, Hungary. Between 2004 and 2010 they have worked in different television productions. In 2010 they have produced a documentary film (Romacops) for HBO Europe, which is still available on HBO Go. Since 2012 they have produced several documentary films, one-off and mini-series, in different length and three short fictions supported by the Hungarian Media Association. All their documentaries were broadcasted by different Hungarian TV channels, some were screened at international festivals and received numerous awards. One of their documentary films and a short fiction was nominated for best documentary and short fiction by the Hungarian Film Academy in 2016. Their films have been screened internationally such as at Edinburgh Film Festival, Clermond Ferrand, Sarajevo Film Festival, Brussels Short Film Festival, etc. The Barmitzvah Boys, their first documentary film with theatrical distribution has been nominated to compete in the PRIX EUROPA 2018 TV IRIS Category. Since Borbála Csukás joined the team in 2018 as producer their intention is to focus on international coproduction and distribution. She is the leading producer of the company’s most recent project, “Divas”, a full-length documentary in co-production with HBO Europe. Being a family production company, their unique passion and enthusiasm creates strong trust and creative intimacy with the protagonists of their films.
